Your practical guide to Kitchen, Aarhus University
The Information Desk is located in room 112, building 1862, immediately adjacent to the “Hub” entrance. Here, you can be granted access to Kitchen on your employee card, student card, or external access card by appearing in person. Please remember to bring your card upon arrival.
Once your student card, external card or employee card has been activated, you can access Kitchen 24/7 by tapping your card.
Before 8.00 and after 17.00, you must enter your four-digit PIN code. If you forget your PIN code, you can set up a new one at www.pinkode.au.dk. If you have an external card, contact Information Desk within our opening hours, and we will help you.
NB: To avoid triggering the alarm, please keep all windows closed and make sure doors are not left open for longer than absolutely necessary outside opening hours.
External access cards can be ordered by contacting the Information Desk at kitchen@au.dk.
When ordering, please provide your full name, phone number, company name, and your role/title in the project or company. This role must have an affiliation with a start up at Kitchen or Aarhus University. Please also attach a passport-style photo (NB: do not send a photo of your actual passport).
The card can be collected from the Information Desk one week after the order has been placed.
If you are a student or employee at Aarhus University, you can connect to the Wi-Fi network “Eduroam”. Guests can connect to “AU Guest”.
As an office tenant at Kitchen, you have the option to have an internal high-speed network set up via “AU IoT.”
An appointment for the setup can be arranged by contacting the Information Desk at kitchen@au.dk. Please ensure that all devices are ready at the time of installation.
If you need to print, you can use the printer located on the basement floor in building 1864 room 003A.
Printing requires a printer login at AU Library.

We recommend that all startups in Kitchen register their company at their private address and use a parcel shop for receiving packages. If you still wish to register your postal address at Kitchen, this is done at your own risk and is subject to the following terms:
As a student, you may use public parking spaces if you need parking close to the university.
The new campus, the University City, is car-free. This means that driving and parking are not permitted within the area. Instead, you can park in the surrounding areas of the University City and in the University Park. Municipal parking regulations apply in the areas around the University City in the same way as in the University Park. Please read the parking regulations on the local signage.
We recommend parking at the facilities on Peter Sabroes Gade or in the parking garage at Peter Sabroes Gade 16C, 8000 Aarhus C.
Under special circumstances, a permanent parking permit may be granted. Please contact the Information Desk at kitchen@au.dk for further information.
If you arrive by bike, you can park your bike at the bike racks in the area. There is capacity for approx. 800–900 bicycles in the University City.
Changing rooms and showers are available in the basement of building 1862 in room 028.
If something in the building is out of order, please send an email to kitchen@au.dk or contact us at the Information Desk.
We have a limited number of private offices.
You can apply for access for a six-month period. As our offices can accommodate up to six people, you will most likely be sharing with another startup.
Your application must be sent to kitchen@au.dk using this guide. Applications are reviewed monthly.
As a member of Kitchen, you have access to our meeting facilities. Please note that meeting rooms may not be used as workspaces.
To book a meeting room, please email kitchen@au.dk.
There are three kitchens in the building: one in Sandbox, one in Playground, and one in Co-Lab for members and staff only.
Please leave the kitchens tidy, help empty the dishwasher and put used dishes in the dishwasher — especially coffee cups, so clean ones are ready for the next day.
Please throw out old food from the fridge to help keep it fresh and odour-free.
Coffee is free for all Kitchen members.
You can find coffee machines in the members-only area, Co-Lab, in building 1864.
If the machines are out of order or coffee beans, please contact the Information Desk.
Please sort your waste correctly. You will find bins in the hallways and kitchens.
Dispose of bottles and soda cans in the bin in the kitchen by Playground on the basement floor labelled “Pant”.
The paper bin is for paper only, not cardboard or napkins. Cardboard must be disposed of in the container by the rear entrance on Peter Sabroes Gade.
Information, such as day-to-day news, updates from staff, ecosystem offers, and social events, will primarily be posted in the closed Facebook group “Kitchen Family”. We therefore encourage you to join the group and stay updated.
