Licensing and sales

Turn your research into impact through a licensing and sales agreement

If you are a researcher at Aarhus University and have made an invention, it can be transformed into new products and services through partnerships with existing companies. This happens through a licensing or sales agreement, where the university transfers rights or ownership of your invention to a third party in return for financial compensation.

Our business developers are ready to advise you throughout the process.

License agreement

A license agreement for an invention is a contract between AU/Central Denmark Region and a third party, where the rights to a technology are licensed to the third party without the transfer of ownership. The agreement regulates rights and obligations for the licensee, including financial terms.

An option agreement is sometimes used to give a third party the opportunity to evaluate the technology for a limited period before a decision on licensing is made.

Sales agreement

A sales agreement is a contract between AU/Central Denmark Region and a third party, where ownership of the rights to a technology is transferred to a third party in exchange for financial compensation. AU/CDR will no longer have any control over the intellectual property rights to the technology.

An option agreement is sometimes used to give a third party the opportunity to evaluate the technology for a limited period before deciding to purchase the technology.
