Office spaces for startups

Apply for your own office as a startup or spinout at Kitchen

Kitchen offers startup offices for our startups and spinouts.

The offices are free of charge and are allocated for periods of six months at a time.

You must be part of Kitchen to apply for an office.

What you get with a startup office

You get:

  • Free office space at Kitchen for you and your co-founders, allocated for six months at a time. If you are a solo founder, you will share an office with other founders.
  • Access to meeting rooms.
  • Access to a shared kitchen with full kitchen facilities.

Our startup offices vary in size and layout, and offices are allocated based on your team's needs and availability. Most startups share an office with one or two other startup teams.

What we expect from you when you have a startup office

To apply for a startup office, you must be part of Kitchen.

If you are allocated an office, we expect you to:

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the startup community at Kitchen by networking, sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences with fellow entrepreneurs.
  • Take part in events and community activities.
  • Respect our open-door policy.

From time to time, office residents are also asked to help with small tasks, such as organising a community breakfast or, twice a year, cleaning out the refrigerators in the lunch area. At Kitchen, we all contribute to making the house a welcoming and enjoyable place to work.

Our open door policy

We encourage openness and collaboration within the Kitchen startup community. That is why we have an open-door policy for our startup offices.

This means that:

  • We ask you to keep your office door open when you are working in your office.
  • We also respect that you may need to close your door when:
    • You are holding meetings.
    • You need to work without interruptions.
    • You are away from the office.

How to apply for a startup office

To apply for a startup office, you must be part of Kitchen.

To apply, please send an email to kitchen@au.dk answering the following questions:

  • Why is having a startup office important for your company at this stage?
  • How long have you been building your startup?
  • How will you contribute to Kitchen's pay-it-forward culture?
  • How many founders are part of your startup?
  • How many days a week do you expect to work from the office?

If you are allocated a startup office, you will have access to it for six months. Once your six-month period ends, you are welcome to apply again. Your application will be assessed on equal terms with all other applicants.
