Kitchen Space

Connecting industry, researchers and key players in space innovation

Based at Kitchen, Aarhus University, Kitchen Space connects businesses, researchers and key stakeholders to transform knowledge into practical solutions through space-related innovation.

Space is about using technology, data and research to address real-world challenges in areas such as climate, health, food systems, Earth observation and advanced technological systems developed for and beyond Earth's atmosphere.

Achieving this requires strong connections between research, industry and innovation.

What is Kitchen Space?

Hear Space Ecosystem Specialist Maddy explain how Kitchen Space brings together businesses, researchers and innovation ecosystems across a space sector that extends far beyond what is traditionally associated with space.

Our role in the ecosystem

Kitchen Space is dedicated to strengthen the connection between the needs of industry and the research and innovation taking place at Aarhus University.

We see space as a broad field of innovation, where new solutions often emerge at the intersection of disciplines, technologies and applications. That is why we work to identify relevant connections, open doors to new collaborations, and create the conditions for turning knowledge into new opportunities.

As part of ESA BIC Denmark and Space Ventures, Kitchen Space also contributes to national and international space initiatives that accelerate innovation and growth. Through strategic networking, targeted innovation challenges and exclusive events, we aim to create lasting value for the Danish and international space ecosystem.

Beyond rockets

When people think about space and space technology, they often picture rockets, spacecraft and missions to the Moon. But while rockets are what get us into space, the real value lies in what space enables us to do once we are there: using technology, data and research to better understand our own planet and solve challenges we cannot address from the ground alone.

Examples of application areas include:

  • Climate
  • Health
  • Food systems

Upcoming events

Would you like to join us as we bring together the key players shaping the future of the space sector and its surrounding ecosystem?

Through Kitchen Space, we host events that strengthen connections, spark new collaborations, and bring researchers and industry closer together.

16 SEPTEMBER

Reverse space challenge

At Reverse Space Challenge, companies present real-world challenges and needs. Interdisciplinary teams of researchers and business developers then develop and pitch innovative solutions based on the companies' challenges.

The aim is to foster new collaborations and demonstrate how research-based knowledge can be transformed into solutions with real value for industry.
