The process step by step

STEP 1

Commercialisation

When a researcher at Aarhus University discloses an invention, Kitchen helps assess its commercial potential, secure intellectual property protection through patenting where appropriate, and determine whether the invention is best commercialised through the creation of a spinout company or by transferring it to an existing company through a licensing or assignment agreement.

STEP 2

Licensing or assignment

If a technology has the potential to be developed into new products or services by an existing company, it can be commercialised through a licensing or assignment agreement. In such cases, Aarhus University grants the company the rights to use the invention or transfers ownership of the intellectual property in return for financial compensation.

STEP 3

Post Deal Management

Once a licensing or assignment agreement has been concluded, Kitchen’s Post Deal Management team ensures ongoing follow-up on contractual milestones, reporting requirements, commercial opportunities and financial matters in close collaboration with the company, the researchers and Aarhus University’s patent administration.

STEP 4

New cooperation opportunities

We continuously identify new opportunities to further develop technologies and expand collaboration – both within and beyond the scope of the existing agreement.
