What is a spinout?

A Spinout is a company established based on agreements with the institution (Aarhus University or Central Denmark Region) regarding the transfer of technologies and rights (ownership or licensing rights).

A Spinout can also be established based on agreements with a specific inventor to independently exploit a right in exchange for compensation to the institution.

Innovation from Aarhus University

Kitchen, Aarhus University helps bring innovation to society from all five faculties at AU and the Central Denmark Region. We collaborate with external patent attorneys to give both you and your invention the best possible opportunities for licensing.

Our portfolio includes:

  • MedTech & Diagnostics
  • BioTech & Pharma
  • GreenTech, Materials & Food
  • Digital Solutions

Standard agreements for licensing

When establishing a spinout, you can either use one of the universities' new standard licensing models or AU's own flexible agreements if none of the standard models meet your needs.

The new standard licensing models are designed to make it easier and faster for you as a spinout to establish your business.

Download an introduction to the universities' standard licensing models and the four different models here. If you need a flexible agreement, please contact your business developer.
